We’ve been discussing challenges in manufacturing and engineering change management lately on the blog. I sat down with Mike Wright and Paul Harris in our Issuetrak Professional Services department to talk ask about customers that are using Issuetrak in those environments. Several customers came immediately to mind, so let’s take a peek into their companies and how Issuetrak features in their processes.
A manufacturing company that makes special purpose work trucks, such as vacuum and pressure wash trucks, uses Issuetrak to capture all engineering change requests. All trucks are made to order, with the specifications unique to each build. Any questions that come up during the order process, including the design, quote, or manufacturing portion are tracked within Issuetrak.
We have one Issuetrak customer that provides custom-engineered product and system solutions for the aerospace and entertainment industries. Their products include various types of foams that replace heavier components in environmental systems. They’re using Issuetrak to capture issues that come up during the manufacturing and engineering processes, as well as tracking preventative maintenance needed on equipment and IT issues that may come up in their day-to-day operations.
A manufacturer of fittings and clamps uses Issuetrak in their Quality Control department to handle complaint management. If complaints come in from customers, distributors, their service team, or other company representatives, a standard process must be followed for resolution. Issuetrak allows them to track the process through engineering, quality control, and shipping/receiving, whether the resolution involves replacement parts or a change in the production lines.
The engineering department of a large motorcycle manufacturer takes custom orders from their customers. Each order needs to go through a review by the engineering and design teams to determine viability and safety. The workflow process is captured in Issuetrak, giving them a standard to gather materials, information, approvals, and prioritizations. This keeps them organized and the processes running smoothly.
Another customer is a manufacturer of surgical instruments. They use Issuetrak to capture engineering issues on equipment, including the mechanical and electrical design processes. This allows for multiple teams to be involved, keeps the lines of communication open, and gives management the ability to set priorities and reporting goals.
These are just a few of the customers that instantly came to mind. Several others use Issuetrak in comparable ways with similar results – better efficiency, increased accountability, and improved communication.
