The Reset List is a trusted collection of users allowed to reset AD passwords for IssueTrak users that are authenticated by AD. It is only engaged when users are specifically added to this list within the interface.
A common use of the Reset List is to include only network administrators so they may reset accounts using IssueTrak instead of having to login directly to AD. But any user within IssueTrak may be added to this list.
An advanced use of the Reset List may be used to automate password-related requests. In this scenario, an IssueTrak Group named “Reset Group” might be created with the Reset List users as group members. An issue type “Password-related” might be created and “Restricted” so that only AD users could see this issue type. An auto-assignment to the “Reset Group” might then be created for any issue submitted with this type.
Members of the Reset List will see an AD Reset menu option on the Main Menu. They will be prompted to enter the user ID and the new password twice to confirm accuracy when selecting AD Reset. The AD Module then connects to the AD server and applies this value as the new network password for this login/user ID.
