Automatic Task Assignment

By Julie Heiman on August 10, 2011

Did you know that you can have your Tasks automatically assigned to either the submitter of the issue or the issue assignee?

This allows you to save time and delegate tasks to the appropriate person specific to the issue without having to go back and edit the issue manually.

In addition, on a Quick Pick, you can now automatically assign the entire issue back to the submitter.

For example:

When using the Task Manager and setting the responsibility for each individual task, instead of filling in the field with a set user, simply select - -Submitter- - or - -AssignedTo- -.  This would allow for the tasks to be routed properly, without manually having to edit the task assignment on each task separately.

The same would apply when configuring a Quick Pick.  Instead of assigning the issue to a set user, or  leaving the field blank, you would simply select  –Submitter- -in the Assigned To: field.

This would enable the user that selects that Quick Pick to automatically have that issue assigned to them verses manually having to add an assigned to value on submit.

To utilize this feature,

Tasks must be enabled through the System portion of your Administration menu.
